New Zealand D1 Champ opens up about forthcoming battle. |

Welcome to the EDC, quick rundown about Adam Richards, firstly, what are you doing here and why the move from New Zealand?!
Well basically I wanted to travel through Europe and stopping drifting is definately not an option so I came up with the idea of coming to the UK with my car. New Zealand also has a good set up for getting working visas in the UK.
You attended Round 3 at Silverstone as a spectator whilst waiting for your car, after watching the competition how do you rate your chances against the existing EDC drivers at Santa Pod, bearing in mind it's a brand new course which will be fresh to not only you but all drivers?
It is always hard to judge especially when it is on a track you have never driven yourself but I would like to think that I will get amongst it and mix it up. I haven't driven my car for eight months so that is a little bit of a worry.
Whats the quick spec on you car and its previous win history?
It is a fairly basic but solid Nissan Cefiro four door, running an RB26 with all the basic drift mods. I have had this car for about five years and it has been developed over this time although for a year in 2006 I drove an s15. My best result being winning the New Zealand champs in the Cefiro in 2005. It is the car that I first started competition drifting in, it's kind of my baby, I think it's real cool haha.
Silverstone saw the entry of 2 Japanese drivers into EDC, Kumakubo and Tanaka, they will return for Santa Pod, have you driven with them previously?
Yes I have driven with Tenaka, but only in practice.
If you don't win at Santa Pod, what alternative result would you be happy with to finish first time out?
The politically correct answer would be that I would be happy just to compete in the event but in reality I would be happy to get in the top eight. Although considering the circumstances I would be genuinely happy to qualify in the top sixteen.
Thanks Adam, well will he do well and end up top 8 or will he rise to the top?
