The power will come from a small block Chevy V8....

Confirmed for the 2008 season is the KSport team, back and thirsty for the Championship win, we get the low-down from K-Sport UK's boss on what promise he thinks 2008 will hold for the team..

So, a new year, a new challenge - a new machine for K-Sport?
Definately a new challenge as we are still going to run the Skyline R33 but this year with a new heart under the bonnet.
The power is going to come from a small block Chevy V8 race engine producing 530bhp and 480ft/lb.
The new engine will make the KSport Skyline sound awesome, by far the best sounding car in EDC, as well as ripping up the tarmac with its huge torque. This is going to be one hell of a smoke machine!

How did you find the 2007 season and what's the biggest thing the team learned for 2008?
As 2007 was the first year that KSport and Tim Marshall had worked together we felt that the first half of the year was a learning curve for all of us particularly fine tuning the skyline from a track car into a drift car. Probably the biggest lesson we have learnt from last year was reliability, hence why we have gone for the V8 this year no turbos, no blowers and no complicated electronics to go wrong...fingers crossed!.

In 2007 you had Tim Marshall piloting the car for you, is Tim still on board?
Tim is 100% on board for 2008, an excellent driver and to have him helping with all of Apex and KSport  development plans is superb. He remained calm and positive last year when things might not have been going quite the way we expected, the last round of EDC proved this when Tim qualified low down the order after some car issues but he dug deep and finally finished 4th. This year the combination of the car and Tim will be stronger than ever.

What would you expect from the Championship this year, outright wins or consistent podiums?
Of course we want wins, what team and driver doesn't. Tim is going to have to fight hard though, EDC has some top quality drivers that are all going for the podium.

How do you think the EDC effects K-Sport as a brand of products and as a competitive team?

KSport have been supplying parts for top drifters and track users for years so it's important for the brand to be seen competing at the highest levels proving the quality of our products, which is exactly the kind of exposure EDC provides.
Its all about proving that Ksport is one of the top brands which is why we are pleased to have so many EDC drivers on board in addition to Tim, using our products. EDC's sister series Time Attack has last years championship winners Zen Performance with their Subaru and Kev Atkins with his Mitsubishi running on Ksport brakes and suspension too.

With our final event in Poland, are the team excited by the challenge of an unknown circuit deep in Europe?
It's going to be superb, what a great opportunity for all drivers and teams to have their grand finale abroad. It will be an exciting challenge to all drivers to compete on a completely new circuit.
I know Tim will rise to the challenge and this mirrors exactly the feelings of the team. In the past we have taken a selection of our track cars abroad and produced wins so lets hope that the tradition continues with the Ksport drift car.

If Tim wins the 2008 Championship, who'd you put your money on for 2nd place?
As we mentioned earlier the quality of drivers in the EDC is top notch and everyone will be wanting to raise their game this year. However, there are always names that spring to mind Brett Castle, Mark Luney, Ben Broke Smith and lets not forget Phil Morrisson in his new 700bhp monster! It's going to be a closely fought battle this year by a few drivers, great for the championship and even better for the spectators!!
