Polody's Back!

2007 EDC Silverstone winning driver Maciej Polody's commitment to the Championship, attending from Poland for each Round has been outstanding, but EDC's respected driver has more install for 2008......

Since 2006 you have been travelling to the UK to compete in our competitions all the way from Poland, some 26 hour driving journey, what is your reason for such big efforts to compete in EDC?

I think the biggest reason for me is new experience I've learned during starts in D1GB and EDC, also getting some respect from drivers, organizers and judges.

In 2007 you won at Silverstone, the jewel in the EDC crown, how did it feel to finally win a Round of EDC, and at Silverstone?

My win at Silverstone in 2007 was the result of my competition in D1GB/EDC in previous years and experience that I've earned, Luck had also impact in my success.

This win shows me that I'm pointing in right direction and made me believe in myself.

In previous years you have used your Nissan S14a, will you keep this machine for 2008, if so, what changes have you made to the car for this year?

Yes, in the 2008 season I'll be using the same car. One thing I want to change is power. The 300PS I had last year wasn't enough to compete 100%.

I will also try for more my camber in front wheels to make my style more visible.

For 2008 the EDC will host its final event in Poland and you have been heavily involved in making that happen, Do you think the local Polish fans will welcome EDC drivers?

Polish people are very hospitable. Our crowd are waiting for this event very much and I know that it will be great show for everyone.

How popular is drifting in poland?

It's very popular, since my win at Hockenhaim in 2004 drifting in Poland evolved into great show for crowd in Poland and they love it. We have many drivers who want to participate in our local championship. Generally this motorsport discipline is very popular in our country.

The Poznan circuit is not known to any EDC drivers except you, please inform the EDC drivers what they can expect from the circuit as a driver, is it high speed?

Main difference is that there is no long straight (about 150 meters) before the first corner, but the entrance speed in the last Polish event was about 80mph so it's quite fast entry like other EDC events.

As Poznan is your local circuit, do you think you have an advantage over EDC drivers who have not been there before, maybe its good to finally have the advantage that UK drivers have against you at Silverstone etc?

Yes of course I know Poznan track quite well. I need 2 years to know the UK tracks. It is very important to know track and yes I will have some advantage in Poznan but EDC drivers the advantage England. Unfortunately in Poland I'm the organizer of PFD (Polish Federation Drift) a driver and I haven't practiced a lot in the Poznan track before but I will now!

The local Polish Federation of Drift that you run as the domestic Championship, what is the level of the top 8 drivers?

I'm sure that polish drivers will be "fighting" and they make this round with EDC drivers a great show to watch. Polish drivers has great cars and I think some skills, one think that is different between EDC and PFD is driver experience and speed, EDC drivers have it more.

For drivers travelling from UK / Europe Poznan is a big journey to make for them, do you think that the circuit is worth the effort for drivers, what is your advice to them about fighting for a Top 16 place in EDC to come to Poland?

For some of the EDC drivers may it be the journey of their lives. Poznan track seemes to be easy but it is not. It is very wide and quite fast so it's good for twin battle. We hope it will be about 10,000 spectators on race day and the Polish crowd is very active and loud and they looking forward to see the best drifters in Europe here in Poznan. I assure it will be great show that EDC drivers will be remembering it forever.

What do you think the drivers will enjoy most about Poland?

Hehe for sure the Polish audience and fans, Polish beautiful and nice women and of course Polish vodka. They are all going to feel very good here in Poznan, trust me!

Also, we hear that you are organising the aftershow and end of season party in Poznan for drivers and staff, what kind of party should we expect in Poznan?

Yeah I have the plan to organize some after party, but lets make the details a surprise!!!
